Windy US Cities
Boston’s Northeastern location by the sea helps to make it the windiest city in the US. Winds in Boston average a blustery 12.4 miles per hour.
With its location on Lake Erie near Niagara Falls, Buffalo sees some of the highest wind speeds in the entire country and plenty of windy weather activities for tourists.
Chicago does experience high winds, but that is not why it is called the windy city. The nickname actually came from the hot air from local politicians.
Three of the windiest cities in the United States are Boston, Buffalo and Chicago. Tourists and lo-cals enjoy the wind in these American cities in summer through water activities and sports, while they spend winters trying to stay warm.
